Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 11, 2026
This policy explains exactly what SAT Bot ("the Bot") stores, what it deliberately does not store, and how to have your data removed. It is written to describe the Bot's actual behaviour rather than to cover every hypothetical.
The short version: the Bot stores your Discord user ID and a record of how you answered its questions. It cannot read your messages, it has no ads, and nothing is sold or shared with anyone.
What the Bot stores
When you answer a question the Bot has posted in a server, it records:
- Your Discord user ID — the numeric ID, not your username.
- The server (guild) ID where you answered.
- How many questions you have answered and how many you got correct.
- Your current and best streak of consecutive correct answers.
- The same answered/correct counts broken down by subject.
- Which option you selected, for features that have to remember a response rather than only a running total.
That is the complete list. It amounts to a handful of numbers attached to an ID,
and exists only so the Bot's own features — /stats,
/leaderboard, and anything that needs to remember an answer — can
work at all.
What the Bot does not store
- Your messages. The Bot runs without Discord's Message Content intent, so it is technically incapable of reading ordinary chat.
- Your username, nickname, or avatar. These are read live from Discord when a reply is being written and are never written to storage.
- Anything you type. The Bot only ever records which of its own buttons you pressed — never text you write.
- Email addresses, IP addresses, or payment information. The Bot never receives these.
- Direct message contents or anything from servers where it is not present.
How your data is used
Solely to operate the Bot's own features — showing your statistics, ranking the server leaderboard, and remembering an answer where a feature depends on it. There is no profiling, no advertising, no analytics product, and no automated decision-making.
Who it is shared with
Nobody. Your data is never sold, rented, or shared with third parties. It is not used to train machine learning models.
Note that leaderboards are visible to other members of the same Discord server by design — that is the point of a leaderboard. Your standing is only ever shown within the server where you earned it. Statistics are stored separately per server, so activity in one server is never visible in another.
Where it is stored
Statistics are stored in a file on the server that runs the Bot, controlled by the Bot's maintainer. Access to that machine is restricted to the maintainer.
No storage is perfectly secure, and this is a hobby project rather than a hardened commercial service. Please do not treat the Bot as a place to keep anything you would mind losing or exposing — though given it only holds question counts, there is very little at stake.
How long it is kept
Statistics are kept until they are deleted on request, or until the Bot is discontinued. They may also be lost through maintenance, hosting changes, or error, which would reset your scores.
Removing the Bot from a server stops any further data being recorded, but does not by itself erase what was already stored. To have it erased, make a deletion request.
Your choices
Stop the collection
Simply stop answering questions. The Bot records nothing about you until you press
one of its buttons — running /math and walking away stores nothing.
Request your data or its deletion
Email the address below with your Discord user ID and, if you know it, the server ID. You can request a copy of everything stored about you, or its deletion. Requests are handled manually and will be actioned as promptly as is reasonable for a personal project.
Children's privacy
The Bot is aimed at students preparing for the SAT, many of whom are minors. It is not directed at children under 13, and Discord itself requires users to be at least 13 (older in some countries). The Bot does not knowingly collect data from anyone below Discord's minimum age. If you believe a child under that age has used it, contact us and the associated data will be deleted.
Because the only data collected is a user ID and a record of answers given to the Bot's own questions, the Bot collects no personal detail beyond what Discord has already assigned.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated, and the "last updated" date above will change when it is. Material changes to what is collected will be reflected here before they take effect where practical.
